Abstract

Cannabis has been used medically and recreationally for about 5000 years, its leaves and flowering tops are used to produce marijuana and hashish which are popular recreational drugs around the world. Cannabis is used now for many medical purposes such as the treatment of nausea and vomiting during chemotherapy, chronic pain and muscle spasms. Moreover; a lot of studies demonstrated the effect of cannabis in the treatment of cancer, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, Parkinson and many other diseases. Cannabis plants produce a group of chemicals called cannabinoids which exert their effects by binding to cannabinoid receptors (CB1 & CB2).
