Abstract Gastric cancer is the third cause of cancer death over the world. It has the fifth incidence among cancers. Gastric cancer is also one of the most behaviorally affected and one of the most preventable cancers. The etiology of gastric carcinoma is likely to be a combination of environmental factors and specific genetic alterations. The risk of developing gastric carcinoma is increased with H. pylori infection, EBV infection, obesity, salty food and smoking. Multiple precancerous lesions are involved in gastric carcinoma as intestinal metaplasia, gastric polyps and gastric dysplasia. |
