Abstract

The widespread use of pesticides for agriculture purposes results in a series of toxicological and environmental problems; Imidacloprid (IMI) is one of neonicotinoid insecticides, which are synthetically derived from nicotine with a large potential distribution to control insects. Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus (L.), is sensitive to the water pollutants, which lead to various deleterious effects on its welfare status. Spirulina platensis is filamentous and multicellular cyanobacterium, which has many nutritional and medicinal properties where it contains protein, vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids, essential fatty acids, antioxidant pigments such as carotenoids and other constituents that have antioxidant activities. Azolla pinnata, an aquatic free-floating fern, it consists of a higher crude protein and essential amino acid (rich in lysine), besides Phyto-constituents such as alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, tannins, and saponins.
This Study was planned to investigate:
1. Determination of median lethal concentration (LC50 - 96 h) of IMI which cause death of 50% of tilapia fish. Fish were divided into 18 glass aquaria, (n = 108, 6 fish/aquarium, triplicates, 6 groups). Concentrations of IMI a dissolved in distilled water ranging from (0.05 to 0.25 μgL−1) for 96 h.
2- After acclimation, three hundred fish were randomly allocated into 30 glass aquaria (10 fish/aquarium, triplicates, 10 groups).
