Abstract Background : Hypertension is a well-known independent risk factor for many chronic diseases including diabetes and cardiovascular diseases causing a significant burden to the society and families. Aim : Evaluate the Effect of Nurse-Led Intervention on Lipid control, Blood Pressure Readings and Knowledge of Hypertensive Patients. Methods : A quazi experimental design (one group pre/ post-test) was utilized, the study was carried out at cardiology inpatient department and outpatient’s clinics in Specialized Medical Hospital affiliated to Mansoura University Hospitals, Egypt. A purposive sample of 60 patients were enrolled and studied by structured interview questionnaire which included structured interview questionnaire about demographic data questionnaire, health relevant data questionnaire and Patient knowledge assessment as well as Physiologic assessment tool that included measurements for blood pressure, weight, height, body mass index and blood sample for lipid profile. Results : The study revealed that there were a statistically significant increase in the total knowledge score after nurse-led intervention, Lipid level was controlled post implementing nurse-led intervention and blood pressure readings of the studied patients were improved and significantly decreased to near normal. Conclusion : There were a significant improvement in the total knowledge level, lipid profile and blood pressure readings among the studied patients after nurse-led intervention. Relevance to clinical, the study finding emphasized the importance of this intervention in improving hypertensive patients’ outcomes and recommended that nurse-led intervention for hypertensive patients with dyslipidemia should integrated into follow-up outpatients’ clinic. |
