Abstract Technological development and adoption of new technology in healthcare have greatly affected the work of nurses, as increased use of technology has created a constant demand for nurses to develop new skills and competencies, otherwise technology is expected to improve the quality of care and ease the work of nurses at healthcare organizations. Aim: Assess nurses` perception regarding the utilization of information technology at primary health care centers in Port Said city. Subjects and Method: A descriptive research design was used for this study. Setting: This study was conducted at the primary health centers chosen randomly from five districts affiliated to Port Said City. Subjects: All nurses working in the five primary health care centers (95 nurses) were included in the study. Tool: Data were collected using the interview sheet and using three tools. Results: The study revealed that: most of the studied nurses had negative perception regarding aspects of using information technology. Also, more than half of studied nurses had sometimes administrative barriers and more than half of them had personal barriers. While there was highly significant statistical relationship between total benefit and total positive perception. Conclusion: the study concluded that majority of the studied nurses have low perception toward utilization of information technology. |
