Abstract Weight loss may lead to abdominal skin redundancy which causes disfiguring shape for the abdomen and flanks, so in many cases abdominoplasty is required. Every abdominoplasty technique has its advantages and disadvantage especially in patients who suffer from many skin and shape changes in a rapid way. Among all abdominoplasty techniques classic and scarpa’s fascia preservation methods were applied in this study and outcome, complications and patient satisfaction were monitored to evaluate and get a proper idea about the best technique to be done in such patients. The seroma formation either early or late were more in classical technique and there was no major difference in wound infection and dehiscence between both techniques while Keloid formation showed more chance in classical technique. Based on this study scarpa’s fascia preservation abdominoplasty is recommended, for being more reliable, better scar shape and more satisfactory for the patients. |
