Abstract

Nano-fertilizers exhibit special characters that are not present in their traditional counterparts. Understanding the effects of different combinations of nano-fertilizer NPK with GA3 (gibberellic acid) on the growth of foliage plants is important for maximizing the economic value of these plants. Codiaeum variegatum cv Gold Dust andScheffleraactinophylla plants were grown in pots in the greenhouse at nursery of Ornamental Farm at Faculty of Agriculture, Suez Canal University, Ismailia, during two successive growth seasons (2018 and 2019)and in twoexperiments. For every experiment, the treatments comprised of four levels of Hyper feed nano-fertilizer NPK (19:19:19) as (0, 1.5, 3.0, 4.5 g /L) were applied with irrigation water drench on the pot with 400 m/L every 15 days and four levels of gibberellic acid (GA3) at (0,100, 200 and 300 ppm) were applied monthly as foliar spray. Results showed that application of fertilizers particularly the combination of nano-fertilizer with GA3 increased all growth parameters compared with nano-fertilizer and GA3. The results indicated that the highest values of plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves/plant, leaf area, fresh weight, dry weightleaves, stems and roots/plant were recorded with Hyper feed nano-fertilizer NPK (19:19:19) at 4.5 g/l combined with foliar spray of both GA3 at 300 ppm. Data also revealed that the previously mentioned combination resulted in the highest contents of N, P, K, total carbohydrates, and total chlorophyll. It can be recommended to use Hyper feed nano-fertilizer at 4.5 g/l combined and GA3 at 300 ppm get the best vegetative growth and chemical composition of croton and Scheffleraplants.
