Abstract The findings of this study reveal that in people with SLE and apparently normal renal function, subclinical lupus nephritis is far more common than previously considered. This conclusion may warrant performing a kidney biopsy as a regular examination in such patients, especially if their beta 2 microglobulin levels are abnormal. Recommendation Performing a kidney biopsy as a regular examination in SLE patients with little or no proteinuria, especially if their beta2 microglobulin levels are abnormal. |
