The study sought to achieve a main goal, which is to know the role of social networking sites in spreading a culture of religious tolerance among Egyptian youth and its relationship to their attitudes towards violent incidents. The study relied on the media survey method, both descriptive and analytical, by conducting an analytical study of all media content that includes religious tolerance topics on the official pages of religious institutions on the Facebook website (the official page of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, the official page of Dar Al-Ifta, the official page of the Ministry of Endowments) using a method The comprehensive survey, during the last four years, from 1/1/2017 until 31/12/2020, using the content analysis form as a tool for the analytical study, and a field study was conducted on a sample of social networking site users of Egyptian youth, consisting of 400 males and females equally, using the questionnaire as a tool for the field study. The study reached a number of results, the most important of which are: 1) Weak interest of the official religious pages in social networking sites in issues of religious tolerance, as the number of religious tolerance topics during the study period, which extended for four years, using a comprehensive survey method, during the period from 1/1/2017 to 31/12/2020, with a total of 592 publications on pages The three official religious institutions. 2) Facebook came at the forefront of the social networking sites used by Egyptian youth, and it was more distinguished in terms of the availability of the elements of the richness of the media, but on the other hand, official religious institutions did not take advantage of these features to spread the culture of religious tolerance among young people and lost some dimensions of interaction. 3) Social networking sites contributed to spreading the culture of religious tolerance among Egyptian youth on the cognitive and emotional side, but on the other hand, the sample members provided justifications for the violent and murderous incidents that occurred against members of the armed forces and the police, and (10.5%) of the sample answered that it was a response. It is normal for jihadist groups because of the persecution practiced against them, which means that some young people still have distorted ideas towards terrorist organizations. They did not crystallize a clear vision and a specific direction towards these extremist ideological organizations. While they adopt a tolerant ideology, they have justifications for the violence and killing incidents that they practice. Terrorist groups, which indicates the success of these organizations, which were able to distort his idea, which facilitates the process of drifting behind those ideas. 4) Social networking sites are a double-edged sword. While social networking sites have contributed to spreading the culture of religious tolerance among Egyptian youth from their point of view, they have at the same time contributed to spreading hate speech, increasing sectarian strife, spreading extremist ideology and contempt for religions. 5) Proving the validity of the hypothesis that says: There are statistically significant differences between the exposure of Egyptian youth to topics dealing with religious tolerance issues on social networking sites, and their level of religious tolerance.
