Abstract
Polluted waters pose a threat to the resident aquatic species and also, affect humans who often come in contact with water directly or indirectly. Environmental contaminants have the potential of getting into the human from dietary sources. El Maadeya area water, daily receives excessive levels of pollutants discharge including, untreated domestic,agricultural and industrial wastewater. Due to the accumulation of huge amounts of pollutants, water quality deteriorated and consequently affects the aquatic life. This highly polluted study area was selected because it is considered as an important source of drinking water and fish.
