Abstract The endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDC) are emitted into environment from various sources. They are fundamentally used in pesticides, packaging industries, and food constituents. EDC describe a broad class of compounds such as industrial wastes, organochlorinated pesticides, plasticizers, and plastics, fuels and numerous other elements that exist in the environment or are in high use during daily life. Clinical evidence, experimental models, and epidemiological studies suggest that EDC have main risks for human by targeting various organs and systems in the body. Varied mechanisms are involved in targeting the normal system, through estrogen receptors, nuclear receptors and steroidal receptors activation (Elobeid and Allison, 2008).The interactions and mechanism of toxicity in relationship to human general health problems, especially endocrine disturbances with special reference to reproductive problems, diabetes, carcinogenic tumors in breast and ovarian should be deeply investigated. There should also be a focus on public awareness of these EDC’s risks and their use in routine life. Endocrine disturbances in the human body results in Alzheimer disease, ovarian problems breast cancer, thyroid eruptions, schizophrenia, testicular carcinoma, nerve damage and obesity (Maqbool et al., 2016). |
