Abstract The present study aimed to investigate the effect of work stress management training program for head nurses on their job performance, used a quasi- experimental research design, it was conducted at four hospitals affiliated to the Ministry of Health, and study sample composed of 30 head nurses participated in the study. Data were collected using six tools; stress rating scale, job performance evaluation checklist, knowledge test questionnaire, checklist of deep breathing technique, checklist of progressive muscle relaxation, and problem solving evaluation sheet. This tools covered the training program which was implemented three times, pre, immediate post, and three months after the training program. The program delivered in ten theoretical sessions and fourteen practical sessions. The results of the present study revealed that there was a significant improvement of head nurses’ work stress levels, job performance levels, knowledge, and practice related to work stress and its management in both immediate post & three months after training program compared with pre-intervention program phase. Based on these finding, the researcher recommended that provide counseling, support groups for the head nurses to counteract the undesirable levels of stress and enhance a good performance. Besides, hospital administrator might initiate stress management project inside the hospital for all employees, in order to limit the stressful situations. |
