Abstract The liver is the largest organ, the biggest gland and one of the main dynamic organs that functions as central for the bile secretion, bilirubin metabolism, vascular and hematologic functions, nutrients metabolism, storage and metabolic detoxification of vitamins and minerals (Ozougwu, 2017). The constant exposure of the liver to various factors such as alcohol, viruses, and bio-transformed metabolites can lead to liver injury, which can cause hepatic inflammation and degeneration. Many common liver diseases (LDs) are responsible for developing liver inflammation. This inflammation can progress to cirrhosis (scarring). It is serious that patients with cirrhosis, due to any type of liver diseases (LD), seek help because people with cirrhosis are at an increased risk for liver cancer or liver failure (Gordillo et al., 2017). |
