The study aimed to know the differences between the sexes in both motives for volunteering to donate blood, which are represented in (social dimensions, psychological dimensions, religious dimensions, health dimensions) and the psychological dimensions that consist of (control over the environment, self-acceptance, positive relationships with others, personal growth, Life purpose, independence
The Study Hypotheses:
- There are differences between the sample averages of male and female blood donors in all motives for donating blood and the components of psychological happiness.
- There is a relationship between the motives for volunteering to donate blood and the components of psychological happiness.
- Motives to volunteer to donate blood contribute to predicting the components of psychological well-being, each on its own, for a sample of donors.
Method and Procedures
Study sample
The number of participants in the current study was (193) young blood donors with an age range of (18: 25) years with an average of (21.32), and a standard deviation of (2.28) years, and all of the sample members were university students from Minya city, its centers and its villages.
Tools
- Ryff psychologicel Well- being scale (RPWS) Translated by El-nabghe fathy mohemed.
- The motivation for donating blood was prepared by the researcher
Procedures:
The researcher applied the study criteria to the research sample individually in the common places to donate blood, such as blood bank and ambulances that receive volunteers to donate blood, where the sample members were asked to fill in the study measures according to their desire to participate in the application of the forms, assuring them that these data will only be used For the purpose of scientific research. The application session for a single respondent took about 30 minutes.
Statistical Analysies:
Some statistical methods were used to analyze the data of the current study, namely:
- Pearson correlation co-efficient to reveal the relationship between the study variables.
- T. Test for the significance of the differences between means.
- Linear Regression Analysis.
The Results:
The existence of statistically significant differences between the sexes in the degree of religious motivation as a positive motive for blood donation motives among donors, and the differences were significant at 0.01 in the direction of the female sample.
The existence of a positive statistically significant relationship at the level of significance 0.01 between the motives for donating blood represented in (psychological motives, social motives, health motives, religious motives) and the components of psychological well-being represented (independence, control over the environment, personal growth, positive relationships with Others, purpose of life, self-acceptance.
