Abstract The laws of classical fluid mechanics describe the motion of fluid as a continuous medium of fluid particles. In some cases, fluid deformation may occur and the microstructure of the fluid is affected by the flow motion. These interactions between micro-structural and stress states define a special type of fluids which are called non-Newtonian fluids. The development of microcontinuum field theories for material bodies that possess inner structures that can deform and interact with mechanical and electromagnetic fields has been grown in the last decades. |
