Abstract The rapid industrialization in developing countries, though contributed to economic development, has resulted in heavy losses to economic welfare in terms of effects on agricultural activities, human health and ecosystem at large through water pollution. The present work was carried out to study the main impact of water pollution around Abu Qir Drain (El-Amia) on some ecophysiological parameters including some growth criteria, pigment content and heavy metals concentration of Psidium guajava L. grown near the area. In addition, study the effect of water pollution on some socio-economic aspects and health of people around the area. Environmental impact assessment (EIA) has been planned by using a rapid impact assessment matrix (RIAM) to emphasize the expected environmental damage on P. guajava agro-ecosystem and human health in the study area. |
