Abstract The current study is a prospective study that was conducted on (100)pregnant females from eleven (11) weeks to thirteen (13) weeks gestation who had been attending to the Outpatient-Clinic of Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, Tanta University Hospital from August 2019 - September 2020, Who were divided into two equal groups, in which group (A) included 50 pregnant women with pregestational diabetes mellitus while group (B) included 50 non-diabetic pregnant women as a control group. All pregnant women included in the study underwent careful history taking, careful general clinical examination (including body weight, blood pressure, lower limb edema, maternal body mass index and abdominal examination and laboratory investigations (including Glucose tolerance test and creatinine clearance test ) and At the first trimester (11th week to 13th week ), to calculate placental volume by 3D ultrasonography and uterine artery velocimetry by power doppler, the machine that was used in the study is Mindray DC 30 with convex probe - RAB- 6D curved array. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of pregestational diabetes mellitus on placental volume and uterine artery Doppler during the late first trimester of pregnancy compared to non-diabetic pregnant women during the same period of gestation. By 3D power Doppler ultrasonography after respecting certain inclusion and exclusion criteria. Primary outcome measure of this study was placental volume by VOCAL of 3D ultrasonography, while secondary outcome measures were uterine artery velocimetry indices (PI and RI). |
