Abstract

Natural products considered to be a great source of drug leads and provide great
diversity of extracted compounds with remarkable biological activity. Most
compounds were isolated from natural sources where acridine, quinoline, and
isatin were extracted from Rutaceae, Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans, and
Couroupita guianensis respectively and they have wide range of biological
activity. Beside their extraction from natural sources, there are several synthetic
methodologies have been developed to construct a wide range of acridine,
quinoline, and isatin derivatives with remarkable biological activity. Prompted
by these results, the main objective of this thesis is to synthesize novel hybrids
of acridine 1, quinoline 2, and isatin 3 with significant anticancer and
antibacterial activities (Figure 1).
