Abstract Incidence of infection in emergency units is one of the highest in hospitals; however, facilities to prevent infection are often inadequate in these important areas. Head nurses performed various tasks and played an important role in control infection. Nurses’ compliance with standard precautions of infection control guide- lines and preventive measures is crucial to prevent the transmission of infectious pathogens. Therefore, the present study designed and implemented management program for nursing staff, to improve head nurses’ role and nurses’ compliance regarding infection control at Tanta University Emergency Hospital. The study subjects consisted of (N=206) nursing staff including head nurses (N=31) and nurses (N=175) working in all departments of Tanta University Emergency Hospital. To achieve aim of study, three tools were used Tool 1: Infection control knowledge questionnaire sheet to collect data from head nurses and nurses about infection control knowledge include part for subject characteristic and part for knowledge questionnaire which include:-. 1- Nurses knowledge: 2- Head nurses specific knowledge about their roles for infection control. Tool 2: Head nurses’ performance role on infection control assessment scale. The scale used by the researcher to evaluate the head nurses’. |
