Abstract

ENGLISH SUMMARY
The work involved in this thesis has been done with the objective and the target of searching for naturally occurring active constituents possessing potential biological activities in the Egyptian Flora. Through this study useful information was derived from the application of different techniques of chromatography (column, paper, thin layer chromatography) and spectral measurements including 1H, 13C-NMR and 2D NMR on Bruker Avance 600 and 400 instrument.
Therefore, the present research mainly covers the phytochemical and biological studies of both leaves & stems and flowers of Limonium tubiflorum. It comprises three parts in addition to English summary, references and Arabic summary.
Limonium tubiflorium (delile) kuntz var tubiflorum. has a vernacular name; Behmat ahmer and synonyms are recorded for this plant: Statice tubiflora Delile , Statice squamata Poir and Limonium tubiflorum (Delile) Kuntez supsp. Tubiflorum. It grows wild in Wadi Habis at Mersa matrouh governorate, Northwestern coast, Egypt.
Part I:
This part is an introduction, that comprises a brief account about natural products and medicinal plants, which form the backbone of traditional and herbal medicine. Followed by, an introductory part about the plant under investigation including the description and taxonomy of the plant followed by the aim of the study.
