Abstract

Self-Compacting Concrete has become the buzzword in the construction industry, and is considered as one of the most crucial advances in the industry over the last two decades. Self-Compacting has become a valuable asset with its ability to ’flow’ without segregating. One of the greatest strengths of Self-Compacting Concrete is that it can flow through complex structural elements in its own weight, without leaving any voids, eliminating the need for vibration or any type of compacting effort.
In this thesis, the properties of self-compacting concrete that was poured and cured at high temperatures 30 and 40 degrees Celsius were studied, and its properties were compared with concrete poured under normal conditions where the temperature is 20 degrees centigrade and treated at 100% humidity. The variables studied in the thesis are the behavior of self-compacting concrete in hot, dry conditions. The proportion of cement in the concrete mixture, where the cement content was used: 400, 450, 500, 550 kg/m3 of concrete. The percentage of addition in the concrete mix where 1.7, 2.8, 4% of the cement weight was used from a high-efficiency addition. The ratio of water to fine materials in the concrete mix that was used is three ratios: 0.31, 0.35, and 0.40.The proportion of coarse aggregate in the mixture, where the proportion of 25, 30, and 40% was used. The size of the fine aggregate to the total volume of the aggregate, the proportions of 30, 40, and 50% were used.28 mixtures of different components were made to study the different variables. All mixtures were tested at a temperature of 20 ° C and a humidity of 100%. This was considered as the standard conditions. The results were compared with mixtures whose temperature was set at 30 ± 2 ° C during casting and 40 ± 2 ° the samples were processed in an oven and the temperature was set to 30°C and 40°C under dry conditions.
It is clear from the results of the tests carried out in this research, Temperature has a direct and significant effect on self-compacting concrete, whether in its fresh or hardened state, for all tested mixtures. The results showed that when the temperature of the mixture was increased, the cement content in the mixture must be increased so that it was not less than 450 kg / cubic meter. The temperature of the mixture in self-compacting concrete should not exceed 30 degrees Celsius. It should be taken into account to include the effect of temperature in the Egyptian code for self-compacting concrete and to set a calibrator for the effect of temperature when mixing and curing.
