Abstract
The current study suggested that oxidative stress plays a major role in florfenicol induced hepatotoxicity. So we conclude that, administration of L-carnitine an antioxidant preceding the florfenicol usage or used together had a protective effect against florfenicol-induced hepatic damage in broilers. That was more prominent than in post treatmeant with L-carnitine, the hepatoprotective effect of L-carnitine is most probably due to its ability to scavenge free radicals and enhance the antioxidant activities.
يتضح من هذه الدراسة أن الإجهاد التأكسدى هو المسؤل عن الضرر البالغ للكبد بعد إعطاء دواء الفلورفنيكول بجرعه (60 مجم لكل كيلو جرام من وزن الجسم ) لمدة ثلاثة ايام متتالية عند عمر 18 يوم فى الدواجن .لذلك ننصح بإعطاء عقار ل- كارنتين قبل الفلورفنيكول او بالتزامن معه ليمكنه التقليل من الآثار الجانبية للفلورفنيكول نظرا لقدرته على التخلص من الشوارد الحرة وتعزيز انظمة الأكسدة.
