Abstract The line of Marx is transitional zone between the mucocutaneous tissue of the palpebral conjunctiva and the keratinized epithelium of the anterior lid margin which detected by different vital stains. Development of LWE was suggested to be the results of inadequate lubrication as the lid pass over the ocular surface leading to increase friction and resulting in structural changes In this study, 80 subjects were included, their age ranged from 40 to 60 years old (20 subjects with dry eye, 20 subjects with MGD, 20 subjects with malposition and 20 normal with matching age and sex) for evaluation of staining characteristics of the lid margin Routine full ophthalmic examination is done and examination of Marx̀ vital staining fluorescein, rose Bengal and lissamine green and following scoring system of ML and LWE. |
