Abstract Samples of urine , sputum , burn swabs or wound swab , endotracheal swabs were collected from Aswan University Hospitals during the period between Feb 2013 to May 2015. Each sample was inoculated on MacConkey`s agar plate. Out of 1000 clinical samples 240 isolates showed non- lactose fermenting colonies. These isolates were selected for further identification . Upon appling Vitic 2 compact system 72 isolates were confirmed as Acinetobacter and were identified to the species level.Among different Acinetobacter species Acinetobacter baumanii was the most common species detected (61%) . |
