Abstract The current study was performed at AL-Rajhi Liver Hospital in the period between from December 2018 to December 2019. The study included 180 patients and were allocated into 4 groups. They were classified into 45 patients of LC with Child Pugh score A, 46 patients of LC with Child Pugh score B, 45 patients of LC with Child Pugh score C, 44 healthy volunteers as control group. Mean age of the studied patients was 57.73 ± 12.66 with range between 18.0-81.0 years. 64.7% were males (n=88) and 35.3% were females (n=48). The Mean age of controls group were 29.75±5.11 with age ranged from 20 to 39 years. 59.1% were males (n=26) and 40.9% were females (n=18) In the majority (79.4%) of patients, HCV infection was the most frequent cause of liver disease. There were significantly higher PT INR and PTT in the studied cases than in the controls, but there was significantly lower prothrombin concentration in the studied cases (62.02 ± 20.82) than in the controls (98.22 ± 8.13). There were significantly higher PT, INR, and PTT in Child-Pugh class C than in Child-Pugh class A and Child-Pugh class B as well as in Child-Pugh class B than in Child-Pugh class A. Also, there was significantly lower Prothrombin concentration in Child-Pugh class C than in Child-Pugh class A and Child-Pugh class B as well as in Child-Pugh class B than in Child-Pugh class A. There were significantly lower serum levels of protein C, PS and AT III in the studied cases than in controls. There were significantly lower serum levels of protein C and AT III in group C than in group A and group B as well as significantly lower serum levels of protein C and AT III in group B than in group A. Also, there were significantly lower serum levels of PS in group C than in group B and group A. |
