Abstract

Introduction
Infertility is a global health issue. The term ‗infertility‘ is used when the couples unable to have babies after a year of regular unprotected intercourse (World Health Organization, 2018). It does mean that you may require treatment or assistance to achieve a pregnancy. Assisted reproductive technologies (ART) are used to treat infertility problems and contain methods in which oocyte and sperm are manipulated in vitro (Zegers-Hochschild et al., 2017). In the field of assisted reproduction, fertilization failure makes stressful experience to couples as well as to clinicians. Therefore, in assisted reproduction, fertilization method depends on the couple’s reproductive history and the semen analysis (Rashad et al., 2009).
In vitro fertilization (IVF) play a role in semen without severe deficiencies and without complete fertilization failure history (CFF) (Check et al., 2011).
When we cannot determine which fertilization method is best to use, we can use the split IVF/ICSI cycles. In this method, half of the sibling oocytes are fertilized by ICSI and the others are fertilized by IVF. This technique is helping to plan the future treatment of the couples (Kim et al., 2015).
Some studies used split cycles for comparing ICSI and IVF fertilization rates, to avoid fertilization failure in the future (Hershlag et al., 2002).
The choose between ICSI and IVF to fertilize the retrieved oocytes is not easy because there is the possibility of fertilization failure in IVF, while for ICSI, there is the possibility of unnecessary execution. Therefore, the implementation of split insemination cycles has increased recently to reduce failure
