Abstract A 3×3 factorial design experiment included 3 levels of MOS (0, 4 and 8 g/kg diet) and 3 levels of E. faecium (0, 1×109 and 2×109 CFU/kg diet) were performed to evaluate the effect of them on growth performance, carcass traits, blood biochemical parameters, immunity, antioxidant status and cecal microbiota. A total number of 216 unsexed 1-week-old Hubbard broiler chicks were randomly distributed into 9 treatment groups of 24 chicks each with 4 replicates each of 6 chicks. Dietary supplementation of either MOS, E. faecium or their combination significantly improved body weight, body weight gain and feed conversion, while, feed intake was not affected significantly. Carcass traits and plasma levels of total proteins, albumin, cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL and VLDL were not affected significantly due to treatments. Blood globulin, A/G ratio immunoglobulins (G and M), lysozyme activity were improved in response to different dietary treatments. Antioxidant status (activity SOD and level of TAC and MDA) were also improved in treated groups as compared with control one. Dietary treatments increased cecal content of beneficial bacteria and decreased pathogenic ones. It is worthy to mentioned that the combination of probiotic and prebiotic showed synergetic effect on these parameters. The high level of MOS and E. faecium was more effective than the low level. Also, the combination between high levels of MOS and E. faecium showed the highest improvements in growth performance, immunity, antioxidant status and cecal microbiota. |
