Abstract According to recent studies two thirds of global population (4 billion people) live under conditions of sever water scarcity at least one month a year, a half billion people in the world face sever water scarcity all year round, and 2 million people, mostly children, die each year from diarrheal disease alone caused by poorly treated potable water. at the current consumption rate, this situation will only get worse.By 2025, two thirds of world population may face water shortages and ecosystems will suffer even more. Despite its criticalness and the technological development, the world has taken only few actions to solve the problem. With the aim of guaranteeing a green and better future for the next generations, in this report, we review the water treatment methods for potable and industrial uses, followed by overview of a water treatment station in steel manufacturer consuming 1000 m3/ Hr of fresh water with recommendation to implement a new treatment technology to reduce the water consumption to about 200m3 / hr saving millions of cubic meters of fresh water and cost. |
