Abstract

The present study was carried out to study the adverse effect of azithromycin, etoricoxib, and its combination and how to ameliorate it by using ascorbic. Kidney, liver, cardiac enzyme antioxidant enzyme, and blood picture were monitored. One hundred and eight mature male albino rats are divided into six groups, Gp (1) Control group at which rats are kept without medication. Gp
(II) Treated with azithromycin 4.5mg/100g azithromycin /day for 14 days orally administrated. Gp (III). Treated with etoricoxib 0.9 mg/100g etoricoxib /day orally administration for 14 days. Gp (IV). Treated with vitamin C 4.5mg/100g vitamin C injected for14 days.GP (V). Treated with azithromycin and etoricoxib 4.5mg/100mg azithromycin and 0.9mg/100mg etoricoxib/day for 14 days orally administrated. GP. (VI).
Treated with azithromycin, etoricoxib, and vitamin C 4.5mg/100g azithromycin, 0.9mg/100mg etoricoxib for 14 days orally administered. And 4.5mg/100g vitamin C /day injected for14 days. Six rats from each group were sacrificed at the 1st, 7th and 14th days post the end of treatment, and two blood samples were collected from each rat. The first sample without anticoagulant for preparation of serum, blood was collected and allowed to clot, and serum was separated by centrifugation at 503 XG for measuring the various biochemical parameters. The second blood samples were collected in tubes with anticoagulants and used for studying the effects on antioxidants activities and CBC.
Thesamplefromtheliver, kidney, heart, andspleenwascollectedandplaced in 10% neutral buffered formalin solution for histopathological study to follow upthechangesinthetissuesoftheliver, kidney, heart, andspleen.Regardingthe clinicalsigns, therewasnomortalityduringtheexperimentalperiodinallgroups. Control and vitamin C groups were normal appeared. However, treated groups with azithromycin and etoricoxib and its combination were showed loss of activity and difficulty of walking. Vitamin C administration improved its side effect. Concerning the biochemical and histopathological results and comparing with the control group(I).
