Abstract
Dermatophytosis, commonly known as ringworm or tinea, is superficial fungal infections caused by dermatophytesthat infect the skin, hair and nails.Dermatophytes infections are extremely common and influencing more than 20–25% of the world’s population with increasing prevalence. Depending on the site and precise etiology, the infections may present in a variety of forms.Fungal infections of the feet (tinea pedis), nails (onychomycosis),the scalp (tinea capitis) and trunk, limbs, and the face (tinea corporis) are becoming increasingly common. Two types of tinea;tinea pedisand tinea corporis will be handled in this study as they are more common in Egypt.
