Abstract A sensitivity analysis on the dominated parameters which affect the flushing time hence the water quality in a semi-closed water body (e.g., lagoons, marinas, harbors and coastal basins) were carried out. This parametric analysis used hypothetical cases to establish planning guidelines for improvement methods of water flushing in marinas and lagoons. Finite element conceptual models are applied to simulate and investigate the most important factors dominate the resident time and water exchange rate such as tidal inlets characteristics (numberlocation-width), the shape of water body, basin dimensions and tidal variations by more than 50 different scenarios. |
