Abstract

Organizational culture can help healthcare organizations achieve desired outcomes regarding patient safety climate. Aim: The present study aimed to examine the relation between organizational culture and nurses’ perception of patient safety climate in Port Said General Hospitals. Subjects and Methods: A correlational descriptive study design was used with sample of 173 nurses from two governmental hospitals in Port-Said City namely; Port-Said General Hospital and Al-Zohour Central Hospital. Data were collected by using two tools: Denison Organizational Culture Survey and Patient Safety Climate in Healthcare Organization. Results: The study indicated that nurses’ perception regarding studied nurses was 59.34% except involvement dimension 63.55%. As well, their perception of patient safety climate was 57.13% .Conclusion: The study revealed that there was positive statistically significant correlation between organizational culture and patient safety climate. Recommendations: Policy makers and leaders should develop safety culture standers followed by nurses for patient safety, a clear vision and mission must be explored to all staff nurses to improve their organizational culture.
