Abstract Background: The use of technology in nursing is not new; nurses have become proficient in utilizing and adapting complex technology into caring nursing practice for decades. Health information system is basic, essential nursing information is required by nursing staff. Aims: Identify nursing staff knowledge and perception toward using computerized health information system. Design: descriptive design. Subject: Included 200 nursing staff working in Zifta General Hospital and 95 nursing staff in Zifta Specialty Hospital. Data was collected by using structured questionnaire sheet to assess nursing staff knowledge and perception toward using computerized health information system. Results: Nearly two third half of nursing staff had high level of total knowledge and more than three fourth of them had high level of perception about information system. Conclusion: There was a statistical significant positive relation between nursing staff’ knowledge and their perception about using health information system in nursing. Recommendation: Providing nursing staff in the need of training courses about uses, skills, benefits and advantages of health information system. Also, nursing staff need orientation about the type of information and data entry by computerized health information system. |
