Abstract

Aluminum phosphide (AlP) is a highly toxic fumigant. It is used as a pesticide and rodenticide especially in developing countries because of its low price and effectiveness in seeds preservation. It became a leading agricultural poison used to commit suicide as its availability is not controlled.Acute aluminum phosphide poisoning is considered a fatal poisoning especially in absence of specific antidote and management only by supportive measures. So it is important to predict outcome of acute aluminum phosphide poisoned patients for appropriate treatment and use of hospital resources.
