Abstract

Abstract Purpose: to characterize of prepared nano zirconia-alumina mixtures as dental implant materials regarding to microstructural analysis, mechanical properties and bioactivity.Materials and methods: It included two parts; preparation of nano zirconiaalumina composites divided into zirconia toughened alumina (ZTA) gp and alumina toughened zirconia (ATZ) gp, characterization and testing of the ceramic composites. Total of (210) specimens 70 for each testing procedure would be evaluated regarding the mechanical and biological tests. Vickers indenter would indent specimens with a loading weight of 2 kg for 5 sec to produce indentation. The fracture toughness could be measured through Niihara formula. A 3-point test was performed to determine biaxial flexure strength through universal testing machine.
