Abstract

In this thesis, the idea is wireless speed control of an ac induction motor and the main target became in the designation and the implementation of the wireless control of an induction motor system. the purposes of choosing this idea are to overcome the limitation in the traditional wired communication control systems in some special cases and to avoid any interference or noise in the case of working at high frequency bands. this system can achieve important features such as ensure safety to the worker, when working in very high places or dangerous places or working environment surrounded by hard weather. The main objectives of this thesis is to achieve the wireless control of the induction motor successfully .firstly ,set the design of the system and determine the motor control method and network computing protocols .secondly, implement the system in two steps. the first step, by applying the motor speed control technique and applying the wireless network computing technique to the whole system. second step, by synchronizing or attach the motor control method with the wireless control technique to achieve the wireless speed control of the induction motor. in this thesis, the theoretical aspects of main electric motor types, ac single phase induction motor speed control methods, wireless networked control system and proposed system compared to previous control systems will be covered. The control methods are used in this thesis are firstly, the speed control method applied to the single phase induction motor permanent split capacitor(PSC) type is called stator voltage control method (phase control method) and secondly ,the wireless communication control method is applied to the whole system based on radio frequency (RF) computing network using RF transiver sensors in the transmitter and receiver sides .the protocol used in this networked system is universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter protocol supported by graphical user interface (GUI) implemented program on 2010 visual studio c# program in the transmitter side. the system is tested successively and the expected results are achieved ,the speed control of the induction motor is achieved by the wireless computing network successively with nominal range of 200 meters line of sight ,in addition to provide the monitoring item in this system of the variable parameters speed, voltage and surrounded temperature degree. this results are simulated on proteus program and the waveforms are displayed on digital oscilloscope at different speed values. I strongly recommend to research in applying the wireless high frequency technologies in industry to can utilize the advantage of the wireless network without any interference of any noise or electromagnetic fields, but these modules not available now in our country because of the security restriction . I also recommend to research in applying the wireless control system to three phase induction motor, because of their wide applications ,but, in this thesis ,it is not available because of there were not possibilities in our labs in the section of three phase induction motor drive circuit ( three phase inverter ) .
