The tomb of Kha-em-hat TT 57 in Qurnah - west Luxor lies in the right hand side of the sunken courtyard of tomb TT 102 and TT 126; they all share the same court. Ramose TT 55 and Kha-em- hat TT 57 had laid out their graves very close to TT 56 User-hat.
The architectural plan of the tomb had a T shape plan, preceded with a public court that was shared with several other tombs. This feature had started to be in practice since the beginning of the reign of king Amenohpis III till the end of the XVIII Dynasty. TT 102 (Imhotep?) TT 126 (Hormose- Commander-in-chief of Troops of the Amun domain- late period). The tomb consisted of facade, hall, Passage and Inner room of which all the walls are covered with various scenes, divided between religious and daily life scenes. The scenes are partially in a good condition but some scenes were completely destroyed.
The hall scenes were mainly preserved to represent the activities of the owner of the tomb therefore; the west wall in the tomb was to represent the scenes of the deceased’s professional career and his relationship with the king he served under his reign. The east wall was for his private life and social activities like inspecting the fields. The scene of the ruling king represented on his throne in a kiosk became a prominent feature in the New Kingdom private tombs. The ceiling of the hall is flat and decorated with geometrical patterns with three lines of inscriptions, one in the middle and two on each side. The rock cut life size statues of the deceased with a family member or more started from the reign of Amenhotep II to be one of the popular characteristics of the tombs, either in one room or more, it was continued to be used till the end of the Nineteenth Dynasty.
