Abstract

Self-compacting geopolymer concrete is relatively a new concept and can be regarded as the most revolutionary development in the field of concrete technology. Self-compacting geopolymer concrete is an innovative type of concrete and can be produced by complete elimination of ordinary Portland cement. As the name implies, it does not need any compacting efforts to achieve full compaction and utilizes fly ash together with alkaline solution and superplasticizer as a binder for matrix formation and strength. The objective of this study is to produce of self-compacting geopolymer concrete by using materials as an alternative to full cement and effective mainly in energy saving and get a clean environment such as fly ash. The experimental program concrete was investigated through thirty five different concrete mixtures, three mixtures were a control from the self-compacting concrete and thirty two mixtures from self-compacting geopolymer concrete designed and prepared through the experimental program of the current study. The effects of main key variables such as sodium hydroxide molarity, sodium silicate to sodium hydroxide ratio, fly ash content, coarse aggregate type, curing time. In brief, the work of this thesis has been performed to investigate the different fresh, physical, and hardened properties as well as the durability of self-compacting geopolymer concrete. The analytical part in this study aims to design a computer program predicting the properties of the required concrete in both its fresh and hardened states. Besides, with knowing the used materials and the required different proportions of each case SCGC and which is needed for any structural purpose.
