Abstract Air pollution is one of the most important challenges facing most countries of the world, and it is one of the most frequently discussed topics by many international organizations because of its harmful effects on both the environment and living organisms. In addition to that, the field of maritime transport with all its activities is considered to be the first responsible for air pollution in the marine environment. Therefore, many researches and studies related to the field of maritime transport have dealt with many methods that limit the exhaust gases emitted from maritime transport activities such as carbon dioxide CO2 and other gases that cause Global warming greenhouse gases (GHG). Therefore, in this study, many methods and methods were presented that lead to reducing the amount of fuel used and thus reducing the gases emitted from ships, some of which can be applied to ships during the design phase of the new construction and others can be applied to ships already in service during the operation process. This study also deals with the narrative benefits of relying on new and renewable energy and other energy sources that can achieve the same goal. |
