Abstract

The present experimental study aims to improve the heat transfer in solar collectors for heating water. In the present experimental work, the effect of a hybrid energy storage materials, and also, the effect of a hybrid storage materials (mixture of paraffin wax and graphite particles) on the performance of the evacuated u-tube solar collector with reflector. To illustrate this, evacuated u-tube solar collector for heating water with and without hybrid energy storage materials (mixture of paraffin wax and graphite particles) as a thermal storage materials was used, manufactured and operated in the same ambient conditions. The following exprimental study is held in the Faculty of Engineering-Tanta University,Egypt. Organization of the thesis The thesis compromises five chapters where the summary of each chapter is given below: Chapter 1 In this chapter, general introduction of solar energy, different types of solar collector and different types of hybrid energy storage system. In this chapter, review display of the principles of solar collectors, different techniques used to improve the heat transfer in solar collectors, and the aims of the present work. Chapter 3 This chapter is divided into two main parts. The first part describes the experimental test-rig which contains the experimental apparatus. While the second part, is devoted to provide a brief description of the employed measuring techniques. Chapter 4 In this chapter, describe and discussions the experimental results of the present work. Chapter 5 This chapter presents the conclusions and suggestions of future work.
