Abstract This research was carried out during 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 seasons to quantify the amount of defected fruits, outlining the causes of defect, and their negative economic impact, in terms of total fruit loss (million EGP), production cost (million EGP), total area of cropping land (Feddan), and irrigation water ( million m3) during supply chain (harvesting, transportation, wholesaler and retailer and after storage)of ‘Samani’, ‘Hayani’, ‘B Aisha’, ‘Oreebi’, and ‘Zaghloul’ soft date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) cultivars grown in North Delta, Egypt |
