Abstract

Several bioactive Trichoderma isolates are recovered from Port-Said Governorate habitats. Physiological characterizations showed that most of the isolates had high enzymatic activity, phytohormones and siderophores production ability. In vitro and in vivo antifungal activities of Trichoderma isolates evinced that both Trichoderma polysporum 1 and Trichoderma piluliferum 2 exhibited high antagonistic activity against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum pathogen. The pot experiment using the two promising Trichoderma isolates (T. polysporum 1 and T. piluliferum 2) revealed an enhancement in morphological, physiological and yield parameters of green beans Phaseolus vulgaris L. treated with Trichoderma alone or in combination with the white mold pathogen.
The beneficial effect of Trichoderma application was confirmedby the histological changes of the green bean leaves. The TEM micrographs of the leaf cells showed a clear improvement in stability of the cell membrane, structure of chloroplasts and nucleus after applying the promising Trichoderma isolates. Hence, Trichoderma isolates isolated from Port-Said Governorate habitats can be used as biocontrolagents instead of agrochemicals.
