Abstract
Pidgin based Arabic has become widely spread recently in Kuwait. This thesis significance lies in tackling Linguistic Features of Arabic based pidgin in Kuwait. The method of this thesis is analyzing data based on recordings of the speech of nine informants who work in Kuwait. They come from Sri Lanka, Philippines, Bangladesh and India. The complete profile of the informants is given in the thesis. Moreover, a description of the procedure of collecting data is included in the thesis. Then, chapter three provides a holistic linguistic analysis of pidgin language used in Kuwait. Also, a phonetic inventory along with phonological analysis of data are provided. Those linguistic features of Arabic based pidgin are checked against the features of Kuwaiti Arabic with illustrative examples which is the aim of this thesis. Finally, this study concludes with common features of pidgin Arabic used in Kuwait by male and female workers.
