Abstract The present study investigates the narrative techniques of time used in the narrative discourse of the Qur’anic story of Prophet Yusuf, peace be upon him. Thus, it introduces an analysis for its time structure. The structural analysis of time in this story helps to depict the dramatic narrative techniques used in presenting its events. Therefore, this study examines the main dramatic elements, requirements, techniques, and characteristics in this story Moreover, the study compares two cinematic adaptations of the story of Prophet Yusuf PBUH). Accordingly, two culturally different film versions are handled in this study. The Qur’anic version of Farajollah Salahshoor’s (2008) TV film version Yusuf Assiddaek and Roger Young’s (1995) English movie The Bible: Joseph are studied. |
