Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the Neoniti and ProTaper Next and Revo S rotary Ni-Ti files regarding the shaping ability via assessment of canal centering ability and canal transportation as well as its cleaning efficiency via assessment of the percentage of surface area covered with debris. The Mesio distal transportation and centering ability were assessed by comparing pre- and post- instrumentation measurements taken on CBCT images at three levels (3, 5, 8 mm), while the canal cleanliness was evaluated using the stereomicroscope at three levels (apical, middle, coronal). Thirty human permanent mandibular molars were used to evaluate shaping ability. Access cavities were done; then special measures were taken to ensure standardization and reproducibility of CBCT images shaping ability.
Thirty human permanent maxillary molars were used to evaluate cleaning efficiency. Sample were classified into three sub groups (n=10).
Result were tabulated and statistically analyzed.
Concerning shaping ability the result showed that there was no statistically significant difference between three different rotary systems in canal centering ability and transportation overall and at each level (3, 5, 8 mm).
Concerning canal cleanliness the result showed that the highest mean value of percentage of debris was recorded in the apical part of the root canal using Neoniti rotary system, whereas the lowest mean value of percentage of debris in the coronal part of canal with Protaper next rotary system.
