Abstract Bowel obstruction is a common clinical condition, presenting with signs and symptoms similar to those seen in other acute abdominal disorders. Intestinal obstruction remains a difficult disease entity to diagnose accurately and treat in spite of recent advances in abdominal imaging. The purpose of our prospective study was to assess the role of multislice CT and in diagnosis of intestinal obstruction The current cross –sectional study was carried out at CT unit, diagnostic radiology department, Suez Canal university hospital in Ismailia. It included forty four patients who were referred to diagnostic radiology department, Suez Canal university hospitals with suspicion of intestinal obstruction. Adult Patients with suspected clinically intestinal obstruction (acute, subacute, and recurrent) were included in the study. Patients who had contraindications to radiation and contraindications to contrast materials were excluded from the study. Data were collected in pre-organized data sheet; all the patients who were included in this study subjected to complete medical history, clinical examination of the abdomen and MDCT. |
