Abstract

A field experiments were conducted during the summer seasons (2016 and 2017 seasons) at Agronomy Department Research farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University, Egypt, from on lay soil to study the evaluation some grain sorghum genotypes under different concentrations of humic acid. The results could be summarized as follows.
Humic acid concentrations, grain sorghum genotypes and the interaction between treatments were highly significant and significant on yield attributes, grain and fodder yields, grain Protein content, nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium use efficiency.
IV.A- yield attributestraits:
IV.A- 1.Plantheight(cm):
The tallest plants were (189.8 and 188.8 cm) obtained at 1.6 mL/L. Humic acid concentration in both seasons respectively, as well as, the Hybrid 2 genotype gave the tallest plants (179.2 and 172.2 cm in both seasons, respectively), the interaction between treatments 1.5 mL/L. Humic acid with Hybrid 2 gave the highly tallest plants (206.0 and 210.0 m in two seasons, respectively).
IV.A-2.Paniclelength(cm)
The concentration 2.5 mL/L. Humic acid gave the maximum average values of panicle length (34.4 and 34.8 m in both seasons, respectively). While, the Hourus genotype obtained the longest panicles (36.9 and 38.7 in two seasons, respectively), the concentration 2.5 mL/L. with Hourus genotype interaction gave the maximum panicle length (37.7 and 39.2 cm in both seasons, respectively).
IV.A- 3.Paniclewidth(cm)
Data obtained that the highest values panicle width was (9.7 and 10.0 m in two seasons, respectively), when grain sorghum sprayed by 2.5 mL/L. Humic acid concentration in the first season and sprayed by 1.0 mL/L concentration of Humic acid in the second season. Where, the Hybrid 2 genotype gave the tallest panicle width (10.8 and 10.9 m) in both seasons, respectively, as well as the Hybrid 2 with the 2.5 mL/L. of Humic acid concentration (interaction) gave the high panicle width in two seasons, respectively (11.3 and 11.1 cm).
IV.A-4.Thepaniclelength/paniclewidthratio
Results obtained that the highest mean values of panicle length/ panicle width (3.6 and 3.6 in two seasons, respectively) when grain sorghum plants were sprayed by 1.5 mL/L in the first season and at the 2.5 mL/L concentration for Humic acid in second season. The highest ratio of panicle length/panicle width was (4.1 and 4.3 in two seasons, respectively) with the Hourus genotype. Interaction between 2.0 mL/L of Humic concentration with the Hourus genotype gave the highest ratio of this treats in both seasons, respectively (4.2 and 4.6).
IV.A-5.Grainindex(g)
The high mean values of grain index (30.1 and 29.6 g) were observed in grain sorghum plants sprayed by 2.5 mL/L in the first season and with 1.0 mL/L of Humic acid concentrations in two seasons, respectively, Here to the maximum values of grain or seed index (26.3 and 25.4 g) in two seasons, respectively, were revealed with Hybrid 2 in the first season and with the Hybrid 305 in the second season, while, the concentration of 0.5 mL/L of Humic acid with the Hybrid 2 genotype interaction gave the maximum values of this trait (34.6 g) in the first season, but the Hybrid 306 with the (0.5 mL/L) of Humic acid concentration interaction gave the high of this trait (31.4 g) in the second season.
IV.A- 6.Shellingpercentage(%)
Results obtained that the 2.5 mL/L of Humi acid concentration gave the highest values of shelling percentage (66.6% and 66.7% in two seasons, respectively). Also, the Hybrid 306 genotype gave the highly values (69.79 and 69.7% in two seasons, respectively) for this trait. Here too the 2.0 mL/L of Humic acid with the Hybrid 306 genotype interaction gave highly shelling percentage (73.7% and 73.6% in both seasons, respectively).
IV.A- 7.Grainweightplant-1(g)
The highest values of the grain weight/plant were (98.9 and 120.9 g in two seasons, respectively) at the 0.5 mL/L for Humi acid concentration in the first season, but when the 1.0 mL/L concentration in second season. However, the Hybrid 306 obtained the highest value for this trait in the first seasons, but in the second season was obtained with Hybrid 306. Furthermore, the Hybrid 306 genotype with the 1.5 mL/L for Humic acid concentration interaction gave the highest grain weight (124.6 g) in first season only.
IV.B-Grainandfodderyields:
IV.B‐1.Grainyieldfed.‐1(Ardab)
Results obtained that the highest grain yield/fed. (24.7 and 23.5 ardab/fed.) was obtained with the 2.5 mL/L and 1.0 mL/L for Humic acid concentration in the both seasons respectively. The maximum grain yield/fed. (24.0 ardab/fed.)was obtained with Hybrid 2 genotype in the first season. But the Hybrid 306 gave the highest value (23.2 ardab/fed.) for this trait in the second season. As well as the 2.5 mL/L concentration of Humic acid with Hybrid 2 interaction gave the highest grain yield/fed. in first season, but the 2.0 mL/L concentration of Humic acid with Hybrid 306 genotype interaction gave the highest grain yield/fed. (25.2 ardab/fed.)
IV.B‐2.Fodderyieldfed.-1(ton)
Results cleared that the higher values for fodder yield/fed. were (13.7 and 19.8 ton/fed. in two seasons respectively, when grain sorghum plants were unsprayed (control) Humi aid in the first season, and at the 0.5 mL/L concentration in the second season. The Hourus genotype gave the maximum values for this trait (15.8 and 21.0 ton/fed.) in both season respectively. Interaction between 2.5 mL/L Humic aid concentration with the Hourus genotype gave the highest fodder yield/fed. (16.8 and 23.2 ton/fed. in two seasons respectively).
IV.C-Grain protein percentage (%)
Results recorded that the higher protein percentage (13.5%) in grains were obtained at 1.5 mL/L for Humic acid in the first season, but the in second season was obtained at 1.0 mL/L Humi acid concentration (11.8%) in this trait. The Hourus genotype gave the highest protein percentage (14.1 and 13.1% in two seasons, respectively). Interaction clearing that the Hourus genotype with 2.0 mL/L Humi aid concentration interaction obtained the highest protein percentage in grains (16.6%), whereas, in the second season the concentration 1.0 mL/L for Humic acid with Hourus genotype interaction led to the high protein percentage in grains (14.0%).
IV.D- Nitrogen,PhosphorusandPotassiumuseefficiency(Kggrains/kg fertilizer)
