Abstract In this thesis, we will develop a new numerical scheme based on a mixed B-spline function for solving time fractional sub-diffusion equation. The shifted Grünwald-Letnikov is used to approximate the fractional derivative. The mixed B-spline depends on a free parameter, which will be used to make the error as small as possible. The method is shown to be conditionally solvable and conditionally stable. Also, numerical examples are presented to verify the practical usefulness of the proposed method. |
