Abstract IBS is a chronic and debilitating functional gastrointestinal disorder that affects 10% to 25% ,of the population across the world and most studies found a female predominance. Prevalence estimates for IBS vary greatly internationally, both within and between countries. Despite low rates of health care-seeking behaviour, IBS accounts for 28% of gastroenterology practice and 12% of primary care caseloads. |
