Abstract

The global environmental contamination is accountable for the exposure of living tings to the influence of a variety of techno genic factors, together with ionizing adiation. The inadvertent exposure of human to radiation causes ionization of molecules, lie explosion of potentially damaging reactions by means of free radical production, pole - body exposure to ionizing radiation damages multiple tissues concurrently leading
0 the manifestation of multi organ syndrome or radiation syndrome whose onset, nature, and severity are a function of both total radiation dose and radiation quality.
1 The aim of this work was to study the biophysical and biochemical effects of acute wd fractionated doses of electrons on the mice tissues.
I The present study was carried out on Swiss mice divided into; group (1): None rradiated serve as a control group, group (2): Irradiated with 1 Gy electron beam tdiation as an acute dose, group (3): Irradiated with 2 Gy electron beam radiation as an cute dose, group (4): Irradiated with 3 Gy electron beam radiation as an acute dose, Iroup (5): Irradiated with 4 Gy electron beam radiation as an acute dose, group (6): radiated with 5 Gy electron beam radiation as an acute dose, group (7): Irradiated with 6 y electron beam radiation as an acute dose and group (8): Irradiated with 6 Gy electron ;am radiation as an acute dose and serve as a recovery group.
To fulfill study goal the following investigations were done; Complete blood counts ]BC), TBARS, total antioxidant activities, liver and kidney function tests and stopathology for liver and kidney using H&E stain.
esults of study was as follow
ematological study
- RBCs, Hb, Ht, WBCs, significantly decreased in all exposed groups from lGy to 6G and in the recovery period.
- MCV, insignificantly increased in the groups exposed to lGy and 2Gy and 4Gy. Meanwhile, MCV insignificantly decreased in the groups exposed to 3Gy and 6Gy. Also, MCV significantly decreased in the groups exposed 5Gy. However, MCV insignificantly decreased in the recovery period.
- MCH, insignificantly increased in the groups exposed to 2Gy and 3Gy. Meanwhile MCH significantly increased in the groups exposed to lGy, 4Gy, 5Gy and 6Gy. MCH significantly decreased in the recovery period.
- MCHC insignificantly decreased in the groups exposed to 2Gy and 3Gy. Meanwhile, MCHC significantly decreased in the groups exposed to lGy, 4Gy, 5Gy and 6Gy. However, MCHC significantly increased in the recovery period.
Biochemical study
TBARS estimated in blood plasma, estimated in kidney, estimated in liver,
significantly increased in all exposed groups from lGy to 6Gy and in the re.
